UWA Research Scholarships 2027 for International Students

The University of Western Australia (UWA) has opened its 2027 international scholarship round for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) applicants, covering Research Master’s and PhD programmes.

Applications for the 2027 International Scholarship Round must be submitted by 15 September 2026 (11:59 PM AWST).

Competitive support may include a full tuition-fee offset along with a Research Training Program (RTP) stipend. The current 2026 stipend rate is AUD 38,110 per year, with additional allowances available for eligible research-related costs.

Admission and RTP scholarship consideration use the same online HDR application — no separate RTP scholarship application is required.

Applicants are expected to identify and secure approval from a relevant academic supervisor as part of a competitive application, since selection depends on supervisor and project alignment.

This round is relevant for students with strong academics, prior research experience, publications or a credible research proposal who are seeking funded research opportunities in Australia.

Applicants typically need a CV, academic degrees and transcripts, a research proposal, publications (where available), and English-language test results (IELTS/PTE).
