New Zealand is expanding post-study work options for certain Level 7 Graduate Diploma students.
The updated options take effect from 16 November 2026.
The changes relate to eligible Level 7 Graduate Diploma study.
The pathway is particularly relevant to applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree.
The applicant’s previous overseas bachelor’s qualification must meet the applicable requirements.
The study must meet the applicable full-time study requirements.
Eligible applicants may have access to post-study work options subject to the applicable immigration requirements.
A new six-month Short-term Graduate Work Visa option is also part of the updated framework.
The two options have different eligibility conditions and durations, so applicants should assess which pathway applies to their circumstances.
Family options under the short-term visa are limited and should be checked against the applicable immigration rules.
Applicants who already have a bachelor’s degree and are considering an eligible Level 7 Graduate Diploma may benefit from the updated pathway.
TVC can assess your existing qualification and preferred study field to help identify a suitable New Zealand pathway.
